The Sun Is Life certification program is a comprehensive training curriculum designed for beauty and wellness professionals who want to deepen their knowledge of sun-safe practices, skin health, and holistic client care. It combines science-backed education with practical application, empowering salons and operators to become trusted advisors on sun protection and healthy lifestyle integration.
Any beauty or wellness professional — including salon owners, estheticians, cosmetologists, spa therapists, and retail staff — who wants to elevate their expertise in sun protection, skin wellness, and client education. It is also ideal for managers training their teams to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
The Salon Operator Certification is self-paced and typically takes 2–4 hours to complete. Once you finish the training modules, you will take a final exam requiring a 75% passing score. You have up to 3 attempts.
Yes — the Sun Is Life certification is recognized across all 50 states as a continuing education credential for beauty and wellness professionals. Many state boards accept it toward CE requirements. We recommend checking with your specific state board for exact credit-hour equivalency.

The certification covers: skin anatomy and physiology, UV radiation fundamentals, photoprotection strategies, client consultation and risk assessment, product formulation and ingredients, retail best practices, sun-safe service protocols, and effective client communication. It also includes business modules on marketing your sun-safe expertise.
